Miss Trini - Missing Homecoming

Well this week was full of hype, a full scale fashion show and car show at the University. Guys we strutting their cars all week with the spinning rims, stationary rims and the doors that lift up like wings, the big fat 30'' tires. The girls were in their 6'' heels \(climbing these hills, with everything fitted, minis, shorts ..anything you could think of. People sporting mohawks...it was like being in an MTV video with the music. Full scale!!!! Past students back in town for the weekend, and traffic jams all around the school. At a black University, the hype is a little extra bling!
Cause you know some of them sistas ain''''t stepping outside unless they got a new ''''do'''' and outfit.

My friends from class went to the Tom Joiner show this morning. The show was from 6-10am.They stood outside the Civic Centre from 12:30am just to make sure they got in. And told the tale of this young girl who passed out from exhaustion and being awake all morning, just as the doors were opening. So they all came to class today straight after the show, and were sleeping every chance they got. Tonight was the Greek Step Show, which I so wanted to go to. But as you can guess since I typing this I never made it. Steups! All week long I asked my friends if they wanted to go to it.

Undecided...till today at 6pm they said they were gonna go. Ticket office closed and no where to get tickets. Crash!!! Gotta wait till next year and hope I can go. Man...I can''''t beleive I missed it. The only thing I got was free lunch on Wednesday. I could not believe it, the entire school seemed so dead today
for classes, but we still had class all day till like 5:30pm. Everyone was out on the set profiling.

Tomorrow there are like 2 Bar-b-ques I have to show my face at. Food in abundance again, when all today I was hungry. Had a corn and some oatmeal for the whole day. No!!! I can''''t take it! There is never enough time to eat.
We got like 15mins between classes. So tomorrow I am off to see my first game. However, I am told the game is not the hype, it is in fact the University band and who''''s who in attendance. Everyone profiling talking about getting their hair and nails done for the game to go with their new outfit. Geez! This Trinihowever, won''''t be in the bling! I am not about to
walk up those hills in any high heels, and go to an uncovered stadium in the hot sun unprotected.

One thing I am thankful for was being able to get ticket to the game. The lines for tickets to the Homecoming game were extra long, and as we got around the corner and saw the line, my friend was like...''nah, I not going in that line''. Finally convinced her to go closer and check out the lines.
Good thing we did. They were organised by Last Names. A-J, L-M, N-R, S-Z.
Interestingly enough it seemed that at a black university most of the names were up to the top. Jenkins, Joseph etc. The ''S''''s'' which is what we were had like 3 people in the line. So we got tickets in like 5 mins. Our friend who we later called was an ''R'' and so we kept a space till he came and then left him there to go back to class. Took him about 30-45 mins. This is like the
first time being in the lower half of the alphabet benefitted me.

So tomorrow Saturday I should have a bellyfull of food before I head to the game to do some ''people-watching'' and listen to the band play.

Until later...
